In a video, Treyarch talks about 10 years of Zombies in Call of Duty and gives a look at the maps that will be available at launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will also continue the Zombie tradition of the Black Ops series. In this context, the developers at Treyarch look back in a video on 10 years of Zombie experience – from the Easter egg Zombie level in Call of Duty: World at War to Black Ops 4.
What does the video show? After a brief excursion through the history of the Zombie mode, there is also a look at the 3 known Zombie maps that CoD: Black Ops 4 will offer at release. These include:
- IX: The map IX (Nine) takes place in ancient Rome – at a time when combat to the death was still seen as a sport. As part of a time travel, players will have to fight in gladiatorial-like battles against hordes of wild zombies. They will use bows, swords, and other ancient weapons.
- Voyage of Despair: During a journey through time, players find themselves on the Titanic in the year 1912. After the attempt to steal an ancient artifact fails, they must combat a supernatural threat on the steamship. By the way, Voyage of Despair is the largest Zombie map that Treyarch has ever developed.
- Blood of the Dead: In this remake of the popular Zombie map “Mob of the Dead” from Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, players must fight against the undead that have overrun the prison island. The map resembles the original “Mob of the Dead” and offers expanded areas and some new locations.
Additional map with the Season Pass: For buyers of the Black Ops Pass (available individually or in certain editions), there will be another previously unknown Zombie map at launch, simply referred to as “Classified.” However, there are already hints that it is a remake of the map V (five), which takes place in the Pentagon. Together with the three other maps, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will offer the most extensive Zombie content of all Call of Duty titles at launch.
Zombies in Call of Duty? What started as an Easter egg almost 10 years ago has developed over time into one of the most popular modes of the Black Ops series. With up to four players, it is cooperative against waves of undead – all on different maps and underscored by a twisted sci-fi story.
By the way: In addition to the Zombie experience, Black Ops 4 will also offer 14 maps for traditional multiplayer and the in-house Battle Royale mode Blackout at launch. However, there will be no single-player campaign.
