Arena mode in Fortnite Patch 8.20
This has been announced: Epic has disclosed various details about the new arena mode in a roadmap. This mode is primarily intended to be used for qualification for the World Cup.
It is still unknown how exactly the scoring in the new mode will work. So far, it is only known that you can rank up to the Champions League in this mode and can qualify for the World Cup.
There has already been something similar: For Valentine’s Day, Fortnite introduced a tournament that also functioned with ranked play. Points were awarded for kills or victories.
It remains to be seen whether the arena mode will operate similarly.
New poison trap in Patch 8.20
This is known about the trap: In the game, Epic has already provided a small insight into the new trap. It is stated: “It’s a poison trap! Watch where you step so you don’t trigger a trap!”
How could it work? The functionality is still unknown, but it can be assumed that when triggered, it does not directly eliminate the opponent but only poisons them. Thus, the player will lose more health over the duration of the round.
However, this is just speculation for now and it remains to be seen how Epic will implement this new trap.
