2015 was a very successful year for our MMO magazine. Now we are slowly but surely approaching (hopefully also a good) 2016. All in all, the perfect time to reflect on the past year, reminisce, and respond to a frequently mentioned reader request. We are finally introducing you to the 15 best-performing online games on Mein-MMO.de. In 2015, mind you.
One of our principles is the lively exchange with the community. We try to be as transparent as possible, considering your wishes – as far as possible – in our reporting strategies. This also includes statements about how well certain games or articles perform. Please keep in mind that it also depended on how closely we followed certain games or when they gained momentum. Below are the Top 15-11 of the year:
Rank 15: WildStar
WildStar just barely makes it onto the list of the most popular games of 2015; H1Z1 and Black Desert were hot on the heels of the sci-fi MMORPG.
Many players have checked out the free-to-play version, which is why there is at least sporadic interest in the title. However, the circle of these people is getting increasingly smaller. There were also only a few good news over the course of the year. WildStar not only lost some well-known faces like Stephan Frost and Tony Rey but also had to admit that the subscription model was doomed.
Although WildStar is doing fairly well at rank 15, the future looks bleak. In the first half of the year, there were brief spikes upward, but the game rarely seemed genuinely interesting. The MMORPG experienced a high point when the switch to free-to-play was imminent – the review of the latest version was the most popular article of the year for the game. Since then, WildStar has been in free fall.
