There are news regarding portal submissions in Ingress! This also affects Pokémon GO. We’ll tell you what to expect.
What’s new in Ingress: In this game by Pokémon GO developer Niantic, there is now a globally improved way of portal submissions. This works just like in Pokémon GO and makes it easier for players to evaluate the portals.
What does this mean for Pokémon GO? Portals in Ingress will in most cases become gyms and PokéStops in Pokémon GO. The two games rely on the same data.
If submitting in Ingress becomes significantly easier, we could also expect more PokéStops and gyms in the future.
Will there be more gyms and PokéStops now?
This has been made easier for Ingress players: So far, Ingress players had submitted and evaluated portals through a slightly more complicated system.

Now there is, just like in Pokémon GO, a system where you can insert 2 images and a text. This will then go as a submission and can be confirmed by other players.
What prerequisites must players have? Players must be at level 10 in Ingress. This is not the maximum level, but still one of the highest levels there.
In addition, players must have access to Ingress Prime. This was introduced as Ingress 2.0 last year and taps into the networking of Pokémon GO.
This could happen in Pokémon GO now: Because submissions are now made significantly easier, it is possible to submit and confirm portals faster. They will then become gyms and PokéStops in Pokémon GO.
This does not mean that you will immediately get a pile of new stops in your city; after all, someone still has to play Ingress and submit the portals there. However, the confirmation can now happen much faster.
How does submission work in Pokémon GO? There Niantic is still testing actively. Recently, the developers released the submission system in India.
Now the tests are significantly expanding in Ingress. If everything goes well there too, this feature could also be extended to Pokémon GO and eventually released worldwide.
Niantic is also taking action against cheaters in Ingress. This could also happen in Pokémon GO soon:
