In which direction will Destiny 2 evolve in 2018? The Game Director has “good info” for us.
Christopher Barrett is the Game Director of Destiny 2 and currently one of the most popular Bungie employees. He is considered a “savior” among Guardians, as someone who finally listens to the community, talks with them, and works with the live team to implement community feedback in the game. He was the one who commented on many issues at the end of October and made announcements about endgame innovations.
Some Guardians write that they no longer trust anyone at Bungie except Christopher Barrett. Because what he promises is actually done in a timely manner. One user claims that Barrett and Community Manager DeeJ are the last beacons in the sea of salt that Destiny 2 currently sails through. Because at least they address the frustrations and concerns that the community has.
Now Barrett is speaking up again via Twitter. He shares something that currently makes the community feel positive again:
Next week there will be forward-looking info
Barrett is currently working on a “Development Update” for next week. He has a lot of good info to share.
In the “Development Update”, one can expect a detailed blog post in which the developers will outline in which direction Destiny 2 will evolve in the future. We will probably get a kind of roadmap listing the innovations being worked on and when we can expect them.
Which “good info” will be announced, we will only find out next week. However, earlier tweets from Barrett suggest that there will be news about
- Iron Banner and the Faction Rally (When will they return? How will they be adjusted?)
- Raid (The raid items are to be revamped and made more rewarding)
- Eververse (Detailed discussions about this have been announced)
- Vault (They are working on short-term and long-term solutions for vault space)
will be given.
Community Manager DeeJ also tweeted recently: He had his first meeting (of many) in 2018 with Barrett on January 3. They discussed how they would continue to follow up on the promises. The conversations with the community will continue next week.
Bottom line remains: Nothing happens at Bungie without it being announced multiple times beforehand. Now we know there will be detailed info next week … and that it should be good.
