Call of Duty evaluates the skill of each player to avoid unfairly divided teams in matchmaking and ensures you play with and against players of similar skill. However, the skill rating of each player is not visible to the player in Black Ops 6 and its predecessors. You have to be satisfied with the KD, your rank in the ranked mode, or your win-lose statistic. However, there is now a trick that allows you to see how Actvision assesses your skill.
What is this trick? The well-known CoD YouTuber TheXclusiveAce has shown in a video that you can see your secret skill rating assigned by Activision in the various games and explains how you can obtain this data (via YouTube).
The short version: You need to request your personal data from Activision – which you should definitely not share carelessly. You will then receive the data as a file in HTML format, which you can then import into spreadsheet applications like ‘Excel’ or ‘Google Sheets’.
Within this data, you will find a “skill” value that describes your personal skill. We will explain how to request the data in detail at the end of the article.
What does the skill value mean? Unfortunately, the skill value is delivered without context, making it currently difficult to interpret whether this value indicates that you are classified as good, bad, or average.
The YouTuber TheXclusiveAce states that his skill fluctuates between a high 300 and a low 400 value. So if you are mostly above 400, at least you know you are better than him.
Website does not provide data, only error messages
Players crashing the site: If you currently make a request to receive your personal data to find out your skill value, the Activision website shows you an error message. It states: “An error occurred. Please try again.”
With the release of the video, apparently too many players have submitted requests and overloaded the site. So if you want to find out your skill value, you may have to wait a few days or weeks.
Request data and find out skill rating.
How to obtain your skill rating: First, you need to go to the official Activision Support website in the section on data protection and privacy.
- Here you can access the website: Support.Activision.com
On the website, you just need to click on “Submit a new request,” read the privacy policies and terms, select your residence, and – if you want to proceed after reading – confirm your eligibility.
Then click “Continue to the privacy and data protection portal” where you will select the request “Access to my personal data (Subject Access Request)”. Then, you still need to log in with your Activision account and the account of your platform (PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, etc.) and can then submit a request after confirming the terms of use.
Your skill is a factor that plays a role in the matchmaking of Call of Duty. Activision publicly commented on the matchmaking of the shooter for the first time in 2024, stating that skill is not the dominant variable – unlike many games assume: Your skill is not the most important factor in Call of Duty matchmaking, says Activision
