Sci-Fi fans can’t miss the trilogy of Back to the Future. In the film series, which was released between 1985 and 1990, time travel plays an important role. But did you know that there was actually a fourth part?
What is this fourth part? Just a year later in 1991, the sequel to the last part followed. Back to the Future: The Ride is not a film that was shown in theaters, but an attraction at Universal Parks. Accordingly, only visitors in the USA and Japan were able to see the fourth part.
Dr. Emmett Brown founds a futuristic institute for time travel in the attraction. The guests board a DeLorean and witness the scientist set off for the year 2015 to check the stability of the timeline. The year plays a significant role in the second part of the trilogy.
There are other researchers who control the years 1885 and 1955. However, Biff Tannen, the antagonist of the series, steals the DeLorean. Therefore, the visitors embark on a chase through time. Unfortunately, the protagonist of the trilogy, Marty McFly, does not appear in the story.
In the following video, you can see a trailer for the second part of the time travel saga:
How the creators think about the fourth part of Back to the Future
Is the story official? The two creators of the saga, Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale, did not actively participate in the creation process of the attraction. However, the project received their approval and was recognized by both of them.
However: The two creators clarified that a real, official sequel will never be created. Therefore, the attraction will probably forever remain the sequel that fans wished for.
Is there a way to visit the attraction? As amusement parks thematically adapt to newer films and franchises, the attractions have now been replaced in all parks. Back to the Future: The Ride lasted the longest in Japan. The attraction was only closed in 2016 and was replaced a year later by an attraction from Despicable Me.
If you still want to experience the ride, you can do so on YouTube. There is a clip from Retro Recipes that shows the entire ride. Artificial intelligence was used to enhance the video quality.
Not only Back to the Future has a secret part, also the original Batman trilogy actually consists of four parts. However, the additional part this time is not a ride, but an anime: The popular Batman trilogy by Christopher Nolan actually has a secret fourth film that hardly anyone knows about.
