As the only game from the fantasy franchise, Total War: Warhammer 2 made it onto the list. The offspring of the well-known strategy game series allows you to control various races, including High Elves, Dark Elves, Vampire Pirates, or the nasty ratmen of the Skaven.
Total War: Warhammer 2 is global strategy, where you move your armies on the world map in turns, build cities, and engage in diplomacy. When you fight battles, it happens in real-time with sometimes enormous masses of units.
Although Total War: Warhammer 2 is better rated, we recommend especially for multiplayer fans the sequel Total War: Warhammer 3. Here you have simultaneous turns for up to 8 players and with Immortal Empires a massive game mode in which you can play all races from all previous installments if you own them.
The slightly lower ratings for Warhammer 3 are partly due to a past heated dispute between developers and the community.
Total War: Warhammer is worth it for:
- Fans of strategy games, whether turn-based or real-time
- Anyone who wants to dive deep into the world and lore of Warhammer Fantasy
- Players who enjoy a large selection of factions and units
- Gamers with a lot of time, a campaign often takes several dozen hours
