After the series on Fallout, Amazon Prime will offer viewers another video game adaptation in series form in 2024. This time, they are drawing from a Japanese franchise and bringing Yakuza into the living room.
What is Like a Dragon: Yakuza? The SEGA franchise started in 2005 on the PS2 and tells the story of Yakuza member Kazuma Kiryu. With over 20 main titles and spin-offs, the series has explored various themes, even diving into quirky settings. Next, there will even be pirates.
Now a series follows that primarily deals with the events from part 1. This is not the only adaptation of the material. In 2007, there was a film called Yakuza – Like a Dragon by Takeshi Miike.

Like a Dragon: Yakuza premieres on October 24, 2024. However, the series will not be fully released on that day. The series will be released in 6 episodes. On October 24, 3 episodes will be available. The remaining 3 will be released on November 1.
Who is streaming Like a Dragon: Yakuza?
The series will be available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video and can be watched with a subscription. It is unlikely that the series will be released on other platforms. A DVD and Blu-Ray release is also unlikely.

What is the plot of Like a Dragon: Yakuza?
The Amazon series adapts the first game of the series. It follows Kazuma Kiryu, who is imprisoned in 1995 for the murder of his Yakuza boss. The series is told in two timelines.
1995 shows the relationship between Kiryu and Nishikiyama and how the two rookies fare within the Yakuza.
In 2005, Kiryu is released from prison and is now outside of the Yakuza. But his past catches up with him, and his former friends have also changed.

Like a Dragon: Yakuza is a Japanese series and has primarily Japanese actors in its cast. Among others, the following actors are featured:
- Kazuma Kiryu is played by Ryouma Takeuchi (known from various Kamen Rider series)
- Akira Nishikiyama is played by Kento Kaku (known from the series: House of the Ninjas)
- Goro Majima is played by Munetaka Aoki (known from The Roundup: No Way Out or Godzilla: Minus One)
- Dojima is played by Masaya Katô (known from Godzilla 1998 by Roland Emmerich)
Less well-known actors include Shôken Kunimoto, Toshiaki Karasawa, Shinichirô Matsuura, Yumi Kawai, Misato Morita.
Like a Dragon: Yakuza is already the third video game adaptation available in Germany on Amazon Prime Video.
