This week the new Xbox Series X was released and many pre-order customers have already started playing. However, complaints about the console are also increasing. The focus is on the drive.
What is going on with the Series X? As various users reported on YouTube or Twitter, they are experiencing problems with the drive of the new Xbox Series X.
It is said to make funny “clicking noises” after it has pulled in a disc, or it does not pull in the discs at all.
The “clicking noises” are very clearly shown in the video by Twitter user @RWillows:
With other users, the disc is not pulled in at all, as shown in this short clip by Twitter user @drnickel:
What does Microsoft say? Although many tweets and complaints are directed at Microsoft and the Xbox team, there has been no official statement about the problem so far.
But that does not stop the community from looking for solutions themselves.
The community finds solutions, but they don’t always work
What can be done about the problems? Among the tweets and videos regarding the drive issues, there are various tips and tricks that are supposed to help:
- For some consoles, it has helped to stand them up or lay them down, depending on which position they were in before.
- Others report that the clicking stopped after several insertions and ejections of discs.
The YouTuber Dante Lee writes in his video description that the drive improved after he forcefully inserted discs multiple times. Eventually, it started to pull in the discs correctly by itself.

Problems diminish an otherwise good launch
How did the launch of the Xbox Series X go? On November 10, the next-gen console was released and received a positive response. In the first reviews, users are pleased with the short loading times and improved performance.
Only the problems regarding logins at Xbox Live somewhat diminished the otherwise good launch of the console. And for some, of course, the issues with the drive.
MeinMMO editor Patrick Freese had no issues with his Xbox Series X. He has unboxed it for you and has already tested whether it is worth it for multiplayer fans.
Some problems, like a supposed overheating issue, are apparently fabricated. The Xbox Series X does not catch fire, as some videos and images claim. It is a trick with steam and the fan:
