The world of Albion Online is set to grow. Albion Online aims to ensure that new players have a better entry point after its free-to-play launch, as they are currently experiencing some difficulties.
Here’s how the entry will be made easier: In a notice on the official website, the developers of Albion Online explained that they will soon expand the world. In total, three new areas will be added to enlarge the game world.
As seen on the official map, the game world is expected to be about half larger than it is now.
The expansion of the world will be a major update after the launch of Albion Online to free-to-play.
What’s the benefit? The update is a response to the success after the free-to-play launch of Albion Online. With the larger map, more territories will be available for players and guilds to settle. Territories offer useful areas where owners can gain various benefits depending on the territory type:
- a protected area guarded by strong NPC guards
- a safe place to log out and a respawn point
- access to the bank
- additional resources
So far, many areas are already occupied by guilds, especially since thousands of new players have joined even before the F2P launch. New players currently have few chances to obtain territories at all. That is set to change.
These areas are being added: Albion Online has specifically planned three new areas:
- Siluria, about the size of Cumbria
- East and West Glouvia, approximately the size of East and West Anglia
The territories will not grant season points during Season 6, but they will provide energy and loot chests. Therefore, they primarily serve as preparation for the upcoming seasons for new guilds.
The new territories can be reached through city portals in many towns.
When will the new areas be released? The new areas are planned for early May 2019. The territories in these areas that can be claimed by guilds will be made available in two waves.
This will occur on the second invasion day of Season 6, on May 18.
