On March 22, Snail Games released the virtual reality game ARK Park – and it immediately garnered a lot of criticism.
ARK Park places you in a Jurassic Park-like facility, where dinosaurs live peacefully. However, there is a problem with the control system that keeps the dinosaurs in check, and the creatures turn on the park visitors. You must now try to survive and fight the dinosaurs. You will experience the action up close thanks to VR headsets like PlaystationVR, HTC Vive, and Oculus Rift.

Three Game Modes
In Ark Park, you have the opportunity to play in three game modes:
- In Exploration Mode, you explore the game world either alone or with other players and collect genetic cubes to breed dinosaurs.
- In Story Mode, you experience the breakout of the dinosaurs, must survive, defend the base, and craft weapons.
- In Multiplayer Expedition Mode, you explore the secrets of the world together as a team and must achieve various objectives.

ARK Park Fails to Impress
The initial reactions shortly after the game’s launch are not particularly positive. According to player opinions, the game lacks depth, and the shooter elements feel tacked on and far too simple.
Furthermore, there is said to be too much grinding to find all the resources from which you then craft your weapons. This artificially stretches the game and unnecessarily prolongs it. In addition, ARK Park tries to mix too many genres and fails to convincingly implement any of them. Criticism is also directed at the movement system, as you do not freely explore the game world, but teleport yourself step by step through it.
Nevertheless, there are also positive voices. Thanks to the detailed graphics, you experience a beautiful VR game world in which many impressive dinosaurs reside. However, there simply isn’t enough to do, which limits the fun of the game.
Graphically, the videos of ARK Park made a very good impression early on.
