Wargaming introduces Transformers into the online game World of Warships (PC, Xbox One, PS4). Exactly. Soon you will fight alongside Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, and Rumble in naval battles. But not everyone is excited.
What did Wargaming announce? In September 2020, after the big update 0.9.5, a limited-time event will start, where some Transformers from the cartoons and movies will join the naval battles. You will experience the fight of the Autobots and Decepticons in the game.
During the event, not only will skins of the robots be available, allowing you to make the ships look like Transformers, but the metal companions themselves will also appear and act as commanders – complete with funny quips.
Which Transformers appear in the game? You can deploy four Transformers that you certainly know from the cartoons and movies:
- Optimus Prime
- Bumblebee
- Megatron
- Rumble
An event that divides the community a bit
When does the event start? So far, only September has been mentioned as the start date. An exact date has not yet been set. The event will run for the PC version of the game as well as for the Xbox One and PS4 versions.
Transformers collide with some fans’ demands for realism
How are the players of World of Warships reacting to the event? The community is a bit divided over this event: the main concern is that the Transformers contradict the realism requirement of World of Warships, even though less realistic skins have been introduced from time to time, including ones for Warhammer 40k.
However, some World of Warships fans place great importance on realism. If the ships’ radar does not function exactly as in reality, that is already a reason for criticism. Consequently, negative voices regarding the Transformers surface:
- HallaSnackbar explains in the official forum: “I like Warships, I like Transformers, but I don’t like this.”
- Iron_Clad_5000 writes: “Please tell me this is a joke, please! Why don’t we ask the developers for camouflage skins based on NASCAR race cars …”
There are already memes making fun of the event:
But not everyone thinks the event is bad. Some are excited about it:
- mozoilla02 says: “As someone who grew up playing with Transformers and has a large toy collection, I am very hyped. Take my money!”
- Felipe_1982 sees the event as an opportunity for the game: “It can help attract new players, whether young or old.”
What do you think of this cooperation? Are Transformers in World of Warships okay for you?
