SuperData has released new figures showing which games generated the most revenue in July. At the top is the ever-popular League of Legends, while PUBG slowly fights its way up.
Lots of money is made with computer games, and SuperData lists every month which are the top games that developers and publishers use to make digital fortunes.
PC: League of Legends remains at the top, DotA 2 plunges – Roblox fights into the top 10
In July, there were changes on PC, positions were swapped, but League of Legends still bravely holds the number 1 spot. The dungeon beat ’em up Dungeon Fighter Online climbs to number 2, while the MMORPG Fantasy Westward Journey 2 continues to occupy rank 3. Crossfire (the Chinese Counter-Strike) dropped from 3rd place last month to 4th.
The online shooter Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds, also known as PUBG, is climbing one rank to number 6, while World of Warcraft rises from 8th to 5th place. World of Tanks slips to position 7. DotA 2 experiences a decline this month and is now found at rank 8, last month it was still at position 5. Overwatch, on the other hand, rises from rank 10 to rank 9, and position 10 is held by the Minecraft-like ROBLOX.
A strong top 3 in console games
In console games, ranks 1 to 3 have remained the same as last month. They are still occupied by GTA 5, FIFA 17, and Battlefield 1. Position 4 is now held by Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. Overwatch rose from rank 7 to position 5. Tekken 7 has fallen off the list, while Injustice made a new entry at rank 7. Crash Bandicoot: Insane Trilogy is also no longer represented, but NBA 2K17 has been added.
Mobile: Clash of Clans in freefall, Lineage M takes off
In the mobile games sector, Clash of Clans has taken a nosedive. While the game was still at rank 3 last month, it has now slipped to position 6. On the other hand, the mobile MMORPG Lineage M makes a new entry at rank 3. This is something special: The game was released only in mid-July and has earned an astonishing amount of money in just 12 days. Currently, Lineage M is only available in Korea.
Pokémon GO makes a return at number 7. New at position 10 is Ghost Story by Netease.
