From now on, players on PS5 can play the survival hit V Rising. The full version was released on Steam about a month ago and is enjoying great popularity there.
What kind of game is this? In V Rising, you play a vampire who has lost his power and is to rebuild his empire. To succeed, you need to gather resources like wood and stone, as is classic in the survival genre – but also blood from animals, humans, and powerful bosses. The twist of the game: as a creature of the night, you are the danger.
The game places a strong focus on the action-packed combat system, for which the developers at Stunlock Studios are known with titles like Battlerite or Bloodline Champions.
V Rising offers not only typical features like base building and exploration but also an RPG component. With weapons and skills, you can choose your own play style and can also act as a tank or healer in co-op.
The game can be played either solo or with friends in co-op on private servers. However, there are also official servers for multiple players. Some of these are focused on PvP and offer full loot, so hardcore players also get their money’s worth.

Which version is the PS5 getting? After the player numbers of V Rising exploded with the 1.0 version, V Rising has now also been available on PS5 since today. As the developers announced in their Dev Blog (via stunlock.com), over 4 million people have already played V Rising, and now PS5 players can join in for €39.99.
The PS5 also received the full version and can enjoy new features such as new bosses, new areas, new enemies, and a new DLC with characters from the iconic Castlevania series.
Why is V Rising so popular? V Rising started in early access on Steam back in May 2022 and was a hidden gem among survival games during its development period. It particularly appeals to players who don’t usually play survival games. On Steam, 88% of over 81,000 reviews are positive.
This may also be due to the well-implemented base building, which allows you to construct impressive castles. You can also furnish them with all sorts of decorations to make your home as pleasant or creepy as possible.
In terms of gameplay, the hunt for bosses and the rewards that come from it are particularly well-received. Defeating a boss grants new skills, allows you to learn spells, or gives you recipes for further buildings.
V Rising performed so well on Steam that it landed in second place among survival games. Even on the PS5, the game already has over 450 reviews as of the evening of June 11, with 75% giving it 5 stars. While Palworld had to concede defeat, V Rising was unable to surpass one game: only Rust is bigger: Survival game with vampires has 132,000 players on Steam, is ranked 2nd in the genre.
