It is quiet around ARK 2. The survival game announced a release for the end of 2024 last year, but so far there has been no information about the survival hit.
ARK 2 is the successor to one of the probably most popular survival games ever. Still in 2023, the developers from “Studio Wildcard” announced the postponement of ARK 2 to “the end of 2024”. At the same time, the delay was justified by the switch to Unreal Engine 5 and the associated better technology.
The year 2024 is gradually approaching its end and there has been no updates for months about the successor to the big survival hit.

Too quiet for a release in 2024
What about the release? The signs for a release this year are rather poor. The last video with promotional material for ARK 2 on YouTube was the trailer from 2023, which you can also see here in the article. Since then, there has been no further advertising for the game there.
There are also no signs on Steam that a release is imminent. The release date for the game is indicated as “Upcoming Announcement” there, and according to SteamDB, there have been no updates on the Steam page of the game since early September.
On the developer’s website, there is an urgent red notice looking for employees (via survivetheark). However, the career website reveals that the team currently only has two positions to fill. Apparently, there are no major restructuring taking place either.
The last major written update for ARK 2 was the blog post on the developers’ website (via survivetheark.com), which announced the delay to the end of 2024 in March 2023. There, the developers reported their grand vision for the game and that the design of the successor to ARK: Survival Evolved will differ significantly.
ARK 2 also did not show a new trailer or any sign of life at gamescom 2024. The game briefly appeared on a list for the game fair but was then removed again.
Is a release this year still possible? While it is unlikely, there are still possibilities for a release of ARK 2 this year. The best chance for that could be a surprise release at the Game Awards on December 13.
Games like the shooter “The Finals” use the stage for such a shadow release and thereby gained a solid player base even without a large promotional phase. Such a “shadow drop” is always possible, although rather unlikely.
