March 2025 continues to be marked by the new 64-bit servers of Lord of the Rings Online. Recently, the developers announced the provision of additional worlds and the comeback of the housing feature.
What is the current status? MeinMMO reported in early March that the transfers to the new 64-bit servers of Lord of the Rings Online planned for March 4, 2025 had been overshadowed by significant issues.
The demand was so high that the transfers could not be completed fully weeks later. In mid-March, the developers stated, that they had completely underestimated the interest in the more modern servers of the MMORPG: “We have transferred over 1 million characters since the transfers opened. That is much more than expected.”

Update on new servers and housing
What do the developers announce now? In recent days, the responsible parties of LOTRO have reached out multiple times. In the official Discord channel, Executive Producer Rob “Severlin” Ciccolini has written:
We are in the process of opening new servers, one in the EU and a few weeks later one in the USA. When we do this, we will enable transfers between Orcrist and the EU server as well as from other worlds to these two servers. We still have enough players on the 32-bit servers to justify another server.
Additionally, Community Manager Cordovan provided an update on housing in the 64-bit worlds on forums.lotro.com on March 27, 2025. He writes that they intend to gradually activate premium and classic housing starting March 31, 2025. The activation will take place in alphabetical order by neighborhoods, with premium accommodations being opened first.
The schedule for the introduction is:
- March 31: Belfalas
- April 1: Eastfold / Erebor
- April 2: Kingstead / Lyndelby
- April 3: Bree-land / Falathlorn
- April 4: Shire / Thorin’s Hall
In a second post on forums.lotro.com, Cordovan explains: There will be additional housing brokers for each neighborhood. Apartments can only be acquired through these brokers. The familiar “For Sale” signs will not be available at this time. There will be temporary discussion channels where the developers aim to answer emerging questions.
