In South Korea, League of Legends has restarted. But after Faker and T1 won the World Championship 2024, 2025 starts off with a setback. The newly formed T1 team loses 1-2 against DAMWON Gaming. The old rivals from 2020 have restructured in 2025 and brought back BeryL, T1’s nemesis.

In the first round, each team plays five Best-of-Three matches. Out of 10 teams, 6 advance to the playoffs.
World Champion T1 meets the nemesis from 2020
This was the 1st game for T1: World Champion T1 plays with the old lineup, only Doran is new on the top lane, after they lost Zeus during the off-season.
Dplus KIA, the former DAMWON Gaming, have restructured as well. Only “Showmaker” is still among the familiar faces. Furthermore, they have brought back T1’s nemesis Keria, BeryL as support. BeryL is somewhat like the kryptonite for T1
, against the self-proclaimed Gacha fan, T1 just can’t win.
Dplus KIA clearly won the 1st match 14-2 in just 23 minutes. In match 2, Faker made a comeback and played strongly as Viktor with 3-1-8. T1 managed to take down DK with 17-8.
However, a hard-fought match 3 went again to Dplus KIA with 18-9.
Are we back in 2020?
This is being discussed: On reddit, the focus is actually not on T1, but on DK. Their midlaner Showmaker was considered a big hope for LoL a few years ago and the team became world champions in 2020, but then gradually fell apart as first BeryL and then the brilliant jungler Canyon left.
In 2025, everyone is happy that Showmaker seems to be really happy again. Especially the new top laner Siwoo, who joined the team together with BeryL, seems to be a real ray of hope.
