Bloodborne is primarily known for its agile combat in an obscure world filled with disgusting bosses. But which of them is actually the strongest? MeinMMO’s Souls expert Christos Tsogos takes a look at the world of hunters and gods and ranks them.
How is this ranking determined? This is not about the pure gameplay of the bosses, meaning how difficult a boss is to defeat. Instead, it is about assessing how strong the bosses are according to their lore and history.
Even though Bloodborne is mainly known for its fast-paced gameplay, behind the creepy setting lies a massive world with a lot of story that can keep fans engaged for hours. The ranking is derived from descriptions of items, dialogues with NPCs, and quests.
Who writes here?
MeinMMO author Christos Tsogos deals with the lore of various Souls games from FromSoftware – from Bloodborne to Dark Souls. Through fan theories to lore videos and summaries of all information, Christos has acquired a large background knowledge. Large enough to assess which bosses from Bloodborne are truly powerful.
In doing so, only their theoretical strengths are weighted alongside their power and influence in the world. However, our ranking invites you to discussions. If you have a different opinion, feel free to let us know in the comments.

Laurence was a key figure in the founding of the Healing Church. When the holy blood was found in the catacombs beneath Yharnam, Laurence saw the opportunity to elevate humanity to a new stage of evolution – up to the Great Ones.
Despite Provost Willem’s warnings to fear the old blood, Laurence left the Byrgenwerth Academy to experiment with the old blood. What happened between his departure and ultimately his death is not clearly defined.
He eventually transformed into the first Cleric Beast, which can even be challenged in the Hunter’s Nightmare. According to clues found in Yharnam, Laurence was eventually defeated by hunters, and his skull was displayed as a relic of the Healing Church – for it was through his legacy that it was founded and thus laid the foundation for the catastrophic events that took place in both New and Old Yharnam – the plague of beasts.
Next up is Rank 4 on page 2.
