At the Game Awards 2023, a trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds was shown. Alongside this, there were also offers on Steam and fans were full of anticipation for the franchise. In particular, Monster Hunter World is doing really well again and the game is celebrating a huge comeback.
Monster Hunter World is the most successful game from Capcom. The 5-year-old game has had solid Steam player numbers over the past months, despite its age and the successor Monster Hunter Rise
, hovering between 20,000-40,000 players. But on December 7th, the trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds
was released, and along with it came offers for the old Monster Hunter games.
As seen on SteamDB, the numbers for Monster Hunter World skyrocketed starting December 7th, the day of the trailer, regularly reaching a player base between 70,000 and 90,000 players for a week. The peak of the last week was 97,006.

The perfect time for veterans and newcomers
With the new trailer, the various Monster Hunter titles were also offered at discounted prices on Steam. For only €9.89, you can get Monster Hunter World there until December 21, 2023. If you add just about €10 more, you get the DLC Iceborne as well. But Monster Hunter Rise and the spin-off Stories 2 are also on sale.
Especially Iceborne allows for a relaxed (re)entry into the game with a strong starting armor. With the many players, you will also have no trouble finding teammates for quests in multiplayer, which makes replaying even more enjoyable right now. The contemporary graphics and the level of detail compared to Monster Hunter Rise, which had a peak of only 27,307 players in the past week, also make players more likely to return to World.
The rising player numbers for World indicate that people apparently really want a new next-gen Monster Hunter and the anticipation for the new installment, which will be released in 2025, is high.
