The mixer-streamer and former Twitch star Tyler “Ninja” Blevins has developed what he calls a “crazy theory”. He believes the NPC opponents “Lackeys” in Fortnite: Battle Royale are out to get him. The AI opponents shoot particularly well at him while missing other players.
These are the new AI bots in Fortnite: In Fortnite: Battle Royale, since the launch of Season 2, there are enemy NPCs, the Lackeys of Ghost and Shadow. They guard bases on the map that contain particularly good loot. The NPCs open fire on players who detect them.
Normally, they are not considered particularly deadly. If you target the villains, you can take them out with a few headshots before they cause any trouble. Even ordinary players can do this; you don’t need to be a Fortnite pro with thousands of hours of gameplay like Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, to whom Epic even donated a unique skin in Fortnite.
How the AI attack on Ninja began: But for Ninja, the bots seem to be a special problem. On April 2, he shared a tweet showing how a Lackey shot him out of the air. Ninja screamed like in the old days and got incredibly upset.
According to him, Epic permanently banned the player FaZe Jarvis for using an aim bot and then built NPCs with aim bot themselves. He emphasized that he says this “half in jest.”
We will NEVER land next to AI opponents again
How the attack of the AI opponents continued: A new YouTube clip shows more scenes of the Mixer star in Fortnite from the location “The Agency,” where there are many of these Lackeys.
Ninja meets an injured villain who takes him out with a short burst of fire. After that, Ninja, already dead, sees another player hopping through the frame, at whom the NPC also fires. But now, the AI lackey misses all its shots.
Ninja presents his “crazy theory”: According to him, the Lackeys are programmed differently and use different levels of aim assist depending on which player they encounter:
- Against Ninja himself, the Lackey hits 3 shots in a row and takes him out immediately
- On the player who was chasing Ninja, the Lackey also fires but missed 10 shots in a row
Mobile users skip 20 seconds ahead:
Shortly later, when an NPC shot him down again, and Ninja died as a result, the streamer comes to the realization: They will never again land in the Agency during “normal” games.
He even goes further and tells his partner Sypher: They will “never, ever” land next to an AI opponent in Fortnite. He is absolutely serious about that.
Ninja believes the NPCs in Fortnite are out to get him and that they react particularly aggressively to him, hunting him down and shooting better at him than at others: The AI has simply conspired against him.
On New Year’s Eve 2018, when Ninja was at the peak of his career, someone really had it out for him: A boy tried to be a Stream-Sniper in Fortnite and wanted to finally catch Ninja in front of a million viewers. You can start to feel paranoid when you know there are really people out there who are hunting you.
