As Season 2 of One Piece is just launching on Netflix, the filming took place several months ago. The cast of the Straw Hat crew now reveals that they have stolen valuable props from the set. It turns out that it is not Nami who is the thieving magpie, but another member of the pirate crew.
What has been stolen? The 5 main cast members have stretched their fingers in varying degrees. They were asked in an interview with Brut. what they had taken from the set. Interestingly, Nami is not acting according to her role as the thieving magpie; it is actually another actor:
- In Season 1, the actor of Luffy (Iñaki Godoi) stole his own wanted poster. However, he is said to have lost it by now.
- The performer of Sanji, Taz Skylar, let quite a bit slip away. Already in Season 1, he stole the complete suit of the ship’s cook. In addition, there is the lighter that Sanji carries as a smoker and his ring.
- Mackenyu (Zoro) apparently couldn’t keep his fingers to himself when it came to a small snail. It is now sitting on his desk at home.
- Emily Rudd, the actress playing Nami, also found the small snails so cute that she took one with her. They simply captivated Rudd.
- According to his own statements, Jacob Gibson has not taken anything from the set – but we know how Lysop is! He would have loved to take the entire landscape home in his pocket.
You can watch the video here:
The thieving streak of Taz Skylar also impresses Iñaki Godoi. He finds it impressive that Skylar took the complete suit home. The stolen ring is currently said to be worn by his father.
Normally, Nami is known as the thief of the Straw Hat crew. However, she was relatively restrained, considering the stolen items from Sanji’s actor.
Stealing from the set is not uncommon
Are there more heists planned? Skylar also asked Godoi if he hadn’t at least taken a straw hat. The actor of Luffy is said to have been afraid to steal a hat just like that. The actor of Sanji rightly points out that he could simply have asked for a hat.
Thereafter, Luffy remained true to himself and considered possibly taking a hat as a small trophy by the end of the Netflix series.
Are there really no consequences? Legally speaking, this is theft, but it is a widespread tradition among actors to take items from the set. Ryan Reynolds, for example, stole the complete suit on the set of Deadpool (as reported on Movie Pilot).
It is also possible that the actors obtained the items legally, but pretend as if they stole them. Maybe they received the props as gifts, bought them, or simply asked if they could keep them.
In another interview, the crew revealed their favorite characters. One of the actresses shares the same favorite as MeinMMO editor Jasmin. The two share their love for a ghost princess: I share a characteristic with “Nami” from One Piece on Netflix, but we are not alone
