In Destiny 2, Osiris is set to return in the future.
Osiris is an ancient Warlock who was once a Vanguard Commander before being sent into exile by the Speaker.
Destiny veterans had indirect encounters with him back in 2015, when the “Trials of Osiris” first took place. However, he never appeared personally in Destiny 1.
Since then, countless Guardians have wondered who this Osiris really is, what has happened to him, and whether he is still alive. When Bungie revealed that the first DLC of Destiny 2 is called “Curse of Osiris” and revolves around the legendary Warlock, lore-interested players were thrilled. Finally, this character would be highlighted, and there would be answers to all the questions.
The story of Curse of Osiris disappointed
However, there were far fewer answers than hoped for. In Curse of Osiris, you learn only that Osiris is wandering around the Infinite Forest on Mercury. That there is a new threat approaching that we, the Guardians, must stop.
In just under 2 hours, the few story missions are completed, Osiris disappears back into the Infinite Forest – and that’s it. No spectacular return of Osiris, joining the Vanguard again, no shocking event that would have a lasting impact on the Destiny universe – no satisfying ending.
Many Guardians agreed after the story: This was not worthy of Osiris. For months and years, they battled in the “Trials”, only to experience a pathetic appearance of Osiris in Destiny 2. Could that really be all there is?
Osiris seems to be making a comeback
It is already known that the story of Osiris is not fully told yet. Because Bungie is currently gradually releasing parts of a webcomic series that depicts the backstory of Osiris.
But a return in the actual game is also possible: In an interview with gamefragger, Oded Fehr spoke about the role of Osiris. Fehr lends his voice to the ancient Warlock in the English original, he is the voice actor for Osiris.
When asked what projects Fehr will tackle next, he replied that he is currently working on a TV project he can’t yet discuss. Specifically about Osiris, Fehr reveals: “I believe they are planning to bring Osiris back; and I look forward to coming back for that.”
So it seems that Bungie plans for Osiris to make another appearance in Destiny. However, it sounds like this return is still some time away. And as Bungie’s past has taught us, plans can also change unexpectedly.
In summary: A return of Osiris is possible and likely planned, but not yet officially confirmed.
What do you think, will Osiris return? Do you want to see more of Osiris in Destiny?
