In the MMORPG Bless, two factions clash – the Hieron and the Union. This ignites a war fought over independence and differing worldviews.
This is a common theme in many MMORPGs: Two (sometimes more) realms are at war. Players join a faction and often clash with players from the opposing side. This is also the case in Bless. Here, too, there are two factions that fundamentally represent different values, leading to a conflict that escalates into a faction war.
A Deep-Rooted Conflict
The war is born from the fundamentally different views of the two realms, Hieron and Union.
Hieron:
- The faction rules over the northern continent and represents a “Holy Alliance”
- The Hieron defeated the barbarian tribes and ended the era of darkness in the world
- Led by the Hawk Empire, the alliance protects the northern lands from the recurring raids of the barbarian tribes
- Hieron believes that order is maintained through values, virtues, and authority
- The alliance thinks that the world lacks these qualities and is hence a corrupted place
- Hieron aims to unite all civilized peoples of the continent and implement its own world order
Union:
- The faction was founded by the Amistad, a people of humans living on the southern continent
- The Amistad belonged to the Light Realm, which was destroyed by a catastrophe
- The Amistad were freed by the Hawk Empire and regained prosperity and peace
- However, the Amistad wanted to return to the former glory of the Light Realm, but the worldview of the Hieron stands in their way
- The Amistad believe that the issues in the world arise from the unchanged status system and the hierarchical social structure
- They seek new ideas and new values and strive for independence, which does not align with the worldview of the Hieron
No Chance for Peace
The independence war in which the two factions in Bless find themselves was initiated by the Amistad because they no longer wanted to pay tribute to the Hieron. Other peoples joined the Amistad, leading to the founding of the Union.
The fundamentally different worldviews of both parties and the deep-rooted animosity leave no real chance for peace. You will experience how this unfolds in May when the Early Access phase of the MMO begins.
