MeinMMO editor Maik Schneider is excited about the new expansion of the survival hit V Rising on Steam.
On May 17, the big free DLC “Secrets of Gloomrot” for V Rising will be released. The game was a big hit on Steam in the summer of 2022.
Together with my colleague Benedict Grothaus, I gave up quite a few hours of sunshine to scare the neighborhood in the game as a pale vampire.
The likelihood is high that I will find myself in a similar situation after the DLC’s release, but the game will be much better then. Because as the trailer shows, Frankenstein cyborgs are coming:
The DLC especially brings a smile to my face with the new enemy types. A mad scientist creates Frankenstein cyborgs, and in the Gloomrot area, creatures roam that provide material for steampunk nightmares.
My cauldron was steaming.
I would have checked out the DLC anyway, but now I’m really looking forward to it. Even if my colleague Benedict wouldn’t agree: zombies and/or science fiction make everything better. Frankenstein cyborgs are somehow both.
What else does the DLC offer? Over the past months, the developers have released little details and tidbits from time to time. Here is a list of parts of the content and changes we can expect:
- New weapons and abilities
- The existing map will become prettier
- New areas and points of interest
- Changes to the progression system
- PvE & PvP improvements
- Complete new biome with new enemies, factions, and V-Bloods
- Expansion of existing POIs, such as Quartz Mine and Glass Factory
- A new magic school
- QoL improvements
- Trading posts for silver coins
- New gem system allows you to customize spells
- Overhaul of the entire spell system
- Legendary weapons
- “Territories” replace the old claim system for player areas
At release, V Rising was able to convince for a few gaming sessions, possibly even longer on a PvP server. But there was still much content missing, and overall the Early Access game plans three major updates.
With “Secrets of Gloomrot”, the developers are already providing good reasons to play vampire again in May.
