No role-playing game without skills. Also in the PvP MMORPG Crowfall, you improve your hero through skills, but the system works a little differently than you might be used to from many MMOs.
In Crowfall skills train passively – whether you are playing or not. Additionally, skills improve per account and not per character. This means: If you decide to train your crafting skills, all characters of an account benefit from this.

Crowfall: An unusual skill system
Here’s how you collect skill points:
- Skills are divided into three categories: Profession, Race, and Class
- Profession includes skills from the areas of Combat, Crafting, and Exploration
- Race offers skills from the areas of Mankind, Sylvan, and Monster
- Class includes skills for Fighter, Mage, and Rogue
- From each category, you select a primary skill area you want to train. As a non-VIP player, you can accumulate skill points for 72 hours, while VIP players can do so for 30 days. Non-VIPs must log in more frequently to distribute skill points
- As a VIP player, it is also possible to train a second area
- Regardless of whether you are playing or not, you accumulate skill points. The skill area that you have activated automatically receives the accumulated points
Here’s how you train your skills:
- The skill points you have accumulated in the categories are then allocated to the skills
- It is not possible to improve skills that do not belong to the trained area
- So if you have set to train the “Combat” area, the accumulated skill points can only be distributed to combat skills
- Using a skill tree in each area, you then determine which skills you want to improve
- Skills are improved in so-called “Pips”. There are a total of five pips per skill. It always costs a certain number of skill points to get another pip. Pips determine how strong a skill is
Tactical approach:
- You always need to decide which skills you want to train
- Since passive points are collected, you should always determine which skill area should receive points before logging out
- After logging in, you first allocate your points to the skills

Think tactically about which skills you want to train
The skill system of Crowfall is therefore set up somewhat differently than many other MMORPGs handle it. You need to think tactically and can even improve while not playing.
