The new chapter of Dead by Daylight is now live on PC. “The Spirit” is here and scares players endlessly.
Yesterday evening (September 18, 2018), the new patch for Dead by Daylight went live. Update 2.2.0 brought the chapter titled “Shattered Bloodlines” and with it the new killer “The Spirit” and the survivor Adam Smith.
What is “The Spirit”? The new killer is actually a young adult woman who was dismembered by her father with a katana. Her body is grotesquely disfigured, with her limbs floating around, and her extremities often cramp up. She is probably the scariest killer that Dead by Daylight has had so far.
As a skill, she can turn invisible and then quickly move across the map. However, she cannot see survivors, so she must rely on sound and scratch marks. She can become visible from invisibility immediately and attack without delay.
The Perks of The Spirit in Dead by Daylight
The killer comes with three unique perks as usual:
- Hex: Haunted Ground: Two active totems appear on the map. If one of the two totems is cleansed, all survivors are afflicted with the “Exposed” effect for 40 / 50 / 60 seconds, allowing them to be downed in one hit. The other totem immediately becomes an inactive totem.
- Rancor: One survivor becomes the killer’s obsession. Every time a generator is fully repaired, the obsession sees the killer for 5 / 4 / 3 seconds. Every time a generator is fully repaired, the killer sees all survivors for 3 seconds. Once all generators have been repaired, the obsession receives the “Exposed” status effect (can be downed in one hit) and can be killed by the killer (Memento Mori effect).
- Spirit Fury: Each destroyed pallet increases the power of the Entity. After 4 / 3 / 2 pallets have been broken by the killer, the next pallet that stuns the killer will be immediately destroyed by the Entity. The killer will still be stunned.
By the way, the Hag and Trapper were recently improved as well.
The Perks of Adam Smith in Dead by Daylight
The new survivor is Adam Smith. He also comes with three unique perks.
- Diversion: The perk activates when the survivor stands in the killer’s terror radius for 45 seconds and is not in a chase. Once the perk is fully active, the survivor can throw a stone to a location within 10 / 15 / 20 meters. The stone creates a loud noise that is indicated to the killer. After that, the perk becomes inactive and must be recharged.
- Deliverance: After the survivor safely rescues another survivor from the hook (i.e., they haven’t been downed again within 20 seconds), the perk becomes active. The survivor now has a 100% chance to free themselves from the hook the next time they are hooked. However, this triggers the “Broken” effect for 100 / 80 / 60 seconds, preventing the survivor from being fully healed.
- Autodidact: The survivor starts with a penalty of -20% on progress for a successful skill check when healing other survivors. Each successful skill check grants a token, up to a maximum of 3 / 4 / 5 tokens. Each token grants a 20% bonus on progress for a successful skill check when the survivor heals other players. Great skill checks are not possible with this perk.
How much does the chapter cost? Those who wish can purchase “Shattered Bloodlines” for 7 euros in the Steam store and receive The Spirit and Adam Smith directly. Alternatively, both characters can also be unlocked using in-game currency. Each character costs 9,000 Bloodpoints.
Cortyn says: After my first matches, I can already say that “The Spirit” is a killer that is really fun to play. With her, “Mind Games” are possible on a whole different level, often tricking yourself as well. There’s nothing better than appearing invisibly behind a survivor and dragging them away from the generator. I suspect I’ve found my new “Main” here.
