What is a Shared World? By the term, in gaming, one understands a game world where one is not alone but traveling with other people. It is basically an MMO feature, but in a rather diluted form, as it generally does not involve too large groups of players that can be active on a server at the same time.
However, this can have a significant impact on the gameplay and especially on one’s immersion. Since the announcement of the Shared World, fans have disagreed on whether it will be good or bad.
- A part would prefer to continue playing alone and not let the gaming experience be spoiled by others. This includes, for example, our colleague Fabiano from GameStar.
- Another part welcomed the Shared World as the next logical step in the evolution of Diablo. Our editor Benedict, for example, advocated for it.
It is also possible for other players to “interfere” in “your” fights and of course vice versa. If you participate in an event and have to collect souls or blood for any totems, it can happen that you unexpectedly and perhaps unwelcome assistance.
This was not the case in earlier Diablo games. How do you find this change? Does the Shared World contribute positively to the gaming experience, do you simply ignore it, or do you find the new feature negative?
