No region in the Seven Kingdoms can match the natural defense of the Vale. The area is surrounded by high mountains and is only accessible in warmer seasons. Particularly impressive is the ancestral seat of House Arryn, the Eyrie. The castle is located several thousand meters above the ground at the top of a mountain and is therefore considered impregnable.
For potential attackers, the route via the water to the east is the only way, which the Arryns can counter with their own fleet. Even if it should come to a battle on land, the army of the Vale, consisting of about 45,000 men, presents a major threat. The warriors from the Vale are generally regarded as honorable and reliable, well trained and possess strong armor.
Despite their isolated location, the economy of the region is very strong. The land offers many fertile valleys that provide sufficient food and resources.
