Rank 4: The North

The North is the largest area in Westeros. It is nearly as large as all the other regions combined. Nevertheless, it can be strategically well defended. In the North is the Wall, and in the south, the land narrows, making the defense line very small.
Moreover, the cold and harsh weather is often difficult for attackers from the south to cope with. To conquer the entire, only sparsely populated North, armies would have to withstand the weather over long distances. Therefore, conquering the region is incredibly difficult, even compared to Dorne.
As tough as their land is, so too are the inhabitants of the North. They are often rather gruff and warlike, but still stand loyal to their land and ruler. They make good warriors and also possess solid equipment. The only thing they completely lack is a fleet.
While there is trade in general, especially with resources like wool, wood, and animal hides, the economy is still one of the region’s weaknesses. The land is simply too harsh and large to build sufficient infrastructure.
