Rank 7: The Riverlands
- House: Tully/ Frey
- Capital: Quickwater
As the name suggests, there are particularly many rivers in the Riverlands. On the one hand, these rivers are a good source of food. They make the land fertile and provide fish. They also offer natural defense lines against attacking armies. However, when it comes to this, the rivers cannot compare to the landscapes of other regions, as we will see later in this list.
Both a curse and a blessing is the geographical location. The Riverlands are located in the middle of Westeros. This makes them perfect for trade and has allowed the region to prosper. On the other hand, during wars, one often literally finds oneself between the front lines. Many conflicts have been fought in the Riverlands. Especially the outskirts have frequently been the target of conquest wars from the surrounding kingdoms.
As the power dynamics in the region often changed, the leadership of the Riverlands is generally rather unstable. Small river lords often prefer to defend their own land instead of remaining loyal to their liege lords.
While the military power of around 45,000 men is theoretically quite respectable, it helps little if these 45,000 men do not fight united.
