In the dark fantasy MMORPG The Secret World, Halloween is starting, while one has not had a good October: A fine for financial misconduct has come due.
The unpleasant part upfront: It has been known for some time that Norwegian authorities are investigating Funcom, the developers behind “The Secret World”. This concerns financial discrepancies during the launch of The Secret World and the time thereafter. This is a period between October 2011 and August 2012.
The allegation is that they manipulated their own stock value and thus the market, more specifically, that they “released information”; which was incorrect and incomplete.
There were images of the investigations, showing the financial authority seizing computers from Funcom in a kind of “raid”.
162,000 Euro fine seems rather mild
1,500,000 million kroner has now been imposed as a fine, which is about 162,000 euros. In the difficult financial situation that Funcom is already in: definitely not a good thing. But at least that’s now settled. Funcom has accepted the fine.
Fortunate in misfortune: The fine seems relatively low in light of the allegations, as Funcom cooperated with the authorities, and they considered Funcom’s “difficult situation” when determining the penalty.
Halloween begins
More positive news: Halloween, Samhain, is set to start in “The Secret World” on October 27. So tomorrow. In a stream, it was also revealed what it is all about. But we don’t want to spoil too much.
Just this much: A “Bee” committed suicide, triggering a longer mission “The Seven Silences”, which has its start in Tabula Rasa. The mission will also relate to the single-player game “The Park”, which is set in the world of The Secret World.
In addition to the new event “The Seven Silences”, there will also be opportunities to revisit older events.
A lot of new costumes and dances with typical horror motifs can also be earned. The Secret World is considered THE game with the best Halloween events.
