The Dark Fantasy MMORPG “The Secret World” has seemingly given a definite no to housing, but the team remains intact and stable.
As reported by Massively Overpowered, the people responsible for “The Secret World” cannot imagine fulfilling the player request “Give us housing!” This would only be possible if one had a time machine to go back to 2010 and lay the groundwork for housing during the development of “The Secret World.” Now, in 2015, the costs of a late housing implementation are seen as far too high compared to the benefits, according to Executive Producer Scott “Nophex” Junior in a forum Q&A with fans of the game..
If one wanted to do that, it would need to “interact with every other aspect” of the game. Housing is a massive feature.
However, one does not want this to be understood as “The Secret World is declining.” The fluctuations in the team were due to the wish to bring all developers to one location in North Carolina. Employees who do not want to move there have been assigned to new projects. They are now looking for replacements for those. And they somewhat retract the “definitive no” to housing in the second statement: it is not on the roadmap, but maybe someday, when everything else has been completed…
