The Dark Fantasy MMO The Secret World will soon receive hoverboards and motorcycles. However, these are sprint animations, not mounts.
In a recent stream, motorcycles were showcased in The Secret World – but these will not be mounts in the MMO sense, but rather different representations of the sprint ability in the game.
These “animations” will be collected in a dedicated interface and can then be used depending on the location you are in. “Immersion” is the key word here. Since The Secret World takes place partly in our world and partly in a twisted fantasy world, they want to cater to both.
In the “real” world, only normal animations should be used, while in the fantasy areas of the game, you can probably ride a hoverboard, like from “Back to the Future”.
No Hoverboards in New York
There will be 3 types of sprints. The first is truly “on foot” and can only be used in buildings, the second is called “Classic” – these are similar to motorcycles that you might see in our world. The third type is called “Exceptional” and is intended for areas that are already unusual. In a world with flying tentacle monsters, even a bit of science fiction doesn’t make a difference.
The motorcycle will come along with a quest and other goodies in the cash shop.
Additionally, they plan to introduce two new sprint levels that are even faster than the previous ones.
Tough Mini-Dungeon for The Secret World
For the patch, which is due to arrive this week, they have also prepared a “mini-dungeon” that depicts the last 3 battles in the Orochi Tower penthouse and is said to be finely tuned. Lead Designer Amiel states: “I can’t beat it.” It is accessible to all players who own Issue #11.
