About a year ago, Rogue Trader was released as a classic computer role-playing game in the world of Warhammer 40,000 on Steam. Now the game is on sale at a historic low price – and anyone who owns the Game Pass can play without any additional cost.
What kind of game is it?
- In Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, you play as a Rogue Trader, a ruler chosen by the Emperor tasked with expanding the Imperium.
- The game is based on the namesake role-playing rule system, offering you classes, turn-based combat, and, of course, plenty of story. You get a game like Baldur’s Gate 3, only set in the world of Warhammer 40,000.
- Rogue Trader provides around 100 hours of gameplay for a single playthrough and replay value through different endings and choices. Right now, the game is cheaper than ever.
Here you can get Rogue Trader at a lower price: In the current sale on Steam Rogue Trader costs only €27.49 instead of €49.99, making it at a historic low price on the platform (via steamdb). However, you only have until February 24th to act.
Also, the first DLC, Void Shadows, is currently €13.99, which is 20% cheaper, providing a new class, a new companion, and about 20 additional hours of gameplay. Just make sure you don’t accidentally purchase the Voidfarer Pack – those are just cosmetic items.
Furthermore, the developers Owlcat announced today, on February 20th, that the game is available in the Xbox Game Pass. So if you already have the Game Pass, you can play the game at no additional cost. If you only plan to play through it once, you can subscribe for a month for between €11.99 and €17.99 (depending on the version) and get Rogue Trader even cheaper.
Rogue Trader already has the second big DLC ready
The role-playing game offers plenty of details to discover and thrives mainly on the grim story it tells, as well as the multi-faceted companions that accompany you on your journeys.
You undergo a development yourself and get to know the world of Warhammer. Rogue Trader is one of the best games to start with Warhammer – because you quickly learn that there is no clear “good and evil” here.
Moreover, Owlcat is already working on the next DLC for the game: Lex Imperialis. There will be another new companion. This time you will meet a member of the Adeptus Arbites, a law enforcer from an organization that is almost as powerful as the Inquisition.
It has not yet been announced when Lex Imperialis will be released. However, the season pass indicates a release still in spring 2025.
If you are into turn-based games and Warhammer, but are looking for more fantasy than sci-fi, you should check out Total War: Warhammer. The strategy game is also currently on sale on Steam for its anniversary – but it is facing criticism: One of the best Warhammer games on Steam showcases a trailer for the anniversary, disappointing thousands of fans
