Microphone
I am clearly and distinctly understandable to my conversation partners through the microphone. This means that the microphone is sufficient for quick communication. However, all recordings and voices are transmitted with a noticeable background noise. In fast chats, this is not too disturbing, but during audio recordings, such as for podcasts, it is much more noticeable.
Additionally, external noises are clearly perceptible. If I type quickly on my mechanical keyboard, it is clearly perceptible to my listeners and is also considered disturbing.
For me, the mic monitoring is practical. This means that I can hear my voice in the microphone through the headphones as well. This way, I do not shout into closed headphones, but rather can perceive myself.
Practical Test in Comparison
In a direct comparison, I have both the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 MAX and the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 Wireless. Both devices cost between 150 and 200 euros and thus belong to a similar price range as the NACON RIG 800 HS. Below, I will explain which device performs better in direct comparison.
Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 MAX
The Stealth 700 Gen 2 MAX from Turtle Beach appears to be more high-quality in processing than the model from Nacon. The headband is reinforced with metal, which makes the device look more premium and stable overall. Additionally, the battery life is significantly better at 40 hours, and the headset is already sufficiently charged for an evening after just 15 minutes thanks to “Fast Charge”.
However, the Nacon RIG 800 Pro HS can score points in comfort. The device from Turtle Beach has rotating and more ergonomic ear cups, but the RIG is significantly lighter and offers more adjustment options. The ear cups are removable and adjustable, and additionally, Nacon offers a headband that provides additional stability and ergonomics.
The clamping pressure is similarly high for both models, but the RIG 800 Pro HS is overall lighter and more comfortable to wear.
SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 Wireless
The Arctis Nova 7 also impresses with significantly better battery life and “Fast Charge” as well: After 15 minutes, there is again enough energy for 6 hours. Additionally, the ear cushions are made of fabric rather than faux leather. In my opinion, this is more comfortable, and the ears get more air.
In terms of build quality, the two models do not differ much. Both the RIG 800 Pro HS and the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 are made entirely of plastic without metallic support. The Nova 7 also has removable headband and ear cushions, like the RIG 800 Pro HS.
Overall, I find the Nova 7 significantly more comfortable than the RIG 800 Pro HS, and the sound is also somewhat more neutral in my ears.
Conclusion: Good sound, low weight, but technically outdated
Who is the headset suitable for? If you’re looking for a lightweight and well-made gaming headset for PC or PS5, the Nacon RIG 800 Pro HS will definitely meet your needs. The biggest strength is undoubtedly the battery life and the charging time; otherwise, you get a comfortable model with good
What alternatives are there?

- The Turtle Beach 700 Gen 2 MAX costs just under 200 euros, offers better build quality and significantly better battery life. In the test, I found the device very comfortable, but larger heads might have problems.
- The SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 Wireless costs around 170 euros, is very comfortable, and offers a lot of functions via software on PC. The fabric ear cushions are also a plus point.
