In World of Warcraft you have made an NPC rich, who will soon be throwing around his gold. Because Rendel has the cash of almost all players.
Hardly any character in World of Warcraft is as rich as Rendel (engl. “Rendle”), a small dredger from Revendreth. You have overwhelmed him with gold, and in Patch 9.1 Chains of Domination, he will throw it at you. Because he simply has way too much of it.
Who is Rendel? Rendel is a recurring NPC in Revendreth. You not only meet him during the story campaign there, but followers of the Venthyr also repeatedly have to deal with the small dredger.
However, most will probably know Rendel from Castle Nathria. He stands in the entrance area and awaits you after every wipe. He serves as a repair option for players and fixes their equipment for a fee – just like any other blacksmith.
What happened to Rendel? Even in Patch 9.0.5, Blizzard made a small change. Rendel was gifted a pile of gold at the entrance of Castle Nathria. This was simply intended to symbolize how much gold players had left with him over the months. This caused quite a bit of amusement back then, as the dredger was slowly but surely wallowing in the gold of the players.
Where is Rendel in Patch 9.1? In the latest version of Patch 9.1 on the PTR, Rendel is back in action. He is one of the daily quest givers in Korthia and apparently has enough gold to spend the rest of his life in luxury. First, he apparently bought a “gem-studded sunglasses”. This is a transmog item that was traded very expensively for a long time – and looks quite extravagant.
Rendel throws gold at you: The task that Rendel gives to players in Patch 9.1 is likely to be quite rewarding. Because the little dredger lets you catch golden Gromits (a new type of enemy) and bring them to him. For this, he gives you a “wheelbarrow full of gold”. This gives a random amount of gold when used, apparently between 600 and 700 gold coins. A considerable sum for a single daily mission.
It remains to be seen what will happen to the little Rendel in the future. If he invests his gold well and doesn’t squander it all on the players, he could become serious competition for NPCs like Trade Prince Gallywix.
