The Repopulation is one of the hopes for fans of sandbox MMORPGs, as it aims to combine elements of the classics Ultima Online and Star Wars Galaxies. However, the team is currently facing a problem.
The MMORPG has been in development for about five years, still holds the alpha status, and has had two successful Kickstarter campaigns. The developers follow a very aggressive update strategy, with updates being released at relatively short intervals. However, fans and backers have been waiting quite some time for new content.
Delays at The Repopulation
The developers have spoken out and explained that there are problems with one of the third-party developers. They are currently in negotiations regarding refinancing. This concerns the developers of the Hero Engine, which is used in The Repopulation. Due to these delays, no new updates can be created, which is why the last one is currently on hold. It is basically finished, and the developers express their utmost dissatisfaction with the situation and apologize to all backers. However, their hands are currently tied.
They hope for the understanding of fans and ask them not to exert additional pressure. It is still unclear how this delay will affect the further update strategy of The Repopulation. It is also uncertain what will happen if the negotiations with the Hero Engine developers fail. Will the makers of The Repopulation switch to another engine? The game is still in alpha status after five years of development, and switching to another engine would cause an additional delay, which the already frustrated fans would probably not accept lightly.
