The MMORPG The Repopulation was actually supposed to be released by Above and Beyond Technologies after the survival shooter The Fragmented. Now Idea Fabrik has acquired the rights and will take care of the MMO from now on.
It was a long back and forth. The disputes between Above and Beyond Technologies regarding the Hero Engine underlying the MMORPG The Repopulation eventually led Above and Beyond to decide to put the work on the MMO on hold and switch to Unreal Engine 4 – specifically with a survival shooter called The Fragmented, on which they then wanted to rebuild the MMORPG The Repopulation.
The Repopulation Returns
Now comes the surprise: Idea Fabrik, who developed the engine behind the MMO, have acquired the rights to The Repopulation and will take care of the further development of the game from now on.
In the first quarter of this year, the servers are supposed to reopen. All previous participants in the alpha will be able to log back into their regular accounts. Idea Fabrik is excited about the deal and is looking forward to offering fans one of the most anticipated MMORPGs. Initially, they plan to reopen the servers and work on the stability of the game before developing further content.
Content is still missing
Above and Beyond Technologies will work with Idea Fabrik during the transition before returning to the development of The Fragmented. The survival game is scheduled to leave early access later this year and will also be released on Xbox One.
Regarding the work on The Repopulation, Above and Beyond states that most of the core systems were already integrated, but they could hardly develop any content. That is something Idea Fabrik now has to take care of.
The entire story is quite interesting, but fans can now look forward to two online games – the survival game The Fragmented and the resurrected The Repopulation.
