The public broadcaster is launching a new comedy program on Twitch. MeinMMO reveals everything about the show.
Does the public broadcaster and Twitch go together? In fact, it works surprisingly well. The ARD has been operating an official channel on Twitch since autumn 2022. However, only 1 to 2 streams were broadcast there until the beginning of the year. Now it seems they want to increase their presence on the streaming platform:
- In 2024, there have been an average of 3-4 streams per week so far
- There is the Minecraft format “Build the Castle”, political talk topics, and a “musical gaming podcast”
- At the beginning of April, the first “Crime Scene” Pen&Paper launched (via Das Erste)
- Other public broadcasters are also on Twitch
A new comedy program from SWR will start on Twitch in May.
What kind of show is this? In the new SWR show “Comedy Clash”, six comedians will compete against each other monthly starting May 6. The format will be broadcast live in front of an audience and with an interactive stream on Twitch.
The comedians will try to convince both the live audience and the viewers on Twitch in a stand-up competition to get voted into the next round.
Who is participating? Established comedians like Nicole Jäger, Kawus Kalantar, Maria Clara Groppler, or Simon Stäblein, as well as emerging talents like Anissa Loucif, Fabian Lampert, Laura Brümmer, Johannes Floehr, or Abdel Boudii, will be part of the show.
For the moderation, well-known faces from the German Twitch scene have been secured, as stated in a press release. Among others, Jasmin Gnu, Reeze, and Starlet Nova will alternate alongside football commentator Robby Hunke to host the show.
Where can you watch it? Each episode will go live at 7:30 PM on the Twitch channel of ARD. Here are the dates:
