World of Warcraft is entering the hot phase. The major “Pre-Patch” for the next expansion “Battle for Azeroth” is currently being tested.
After the Game Director of World of Warcraft, Ion Hazzikostas, spoke about Battle for Azeroth during the Q&A last night (June 14, 2018), the new PTR was immediately launched. Interested players can now try out the Pre-Patch 8.0 on the test server.
What’s in the Update 8.0? The Pre-Patch lays the groundwork for Battle for Azeroth and actually installs the expansion already. However, the new areas will only be accessible with the official release on August 14. With the patch, there are mainly the following changes:
- The artifact weapons lose their abilities (Traits)
- The talents are being revised
- The prestige system and the war mode are activated
- Personal loot is the only loot option
- The stat squish takes place
How do you access the PTR? To get onto the test server, you need to download a second WoW client that has been specifically created for the PTR. To do this, open the Battle.net client, select World of Warcraft, and then under the “Region/Account” section, choose the line “In development – PTR: World of Warcraft.” After downloading, you can start playing immediately on the PTR.
But be careful: The PTR is not a beta access for Battle for Azeroth. You can “only” test Patch 8.0 in the old world – so basically the changes to the classes, playing without active artifact weapon traits, and the new war mode.
When the Patch 8.0 will be deployed on the live servers is still unknown. An exact date will be provided in the coming weeks.
Are you already on the PTR? Or are you waiting to be surprised and see what comes your way?
