The streamers Clix and Lacy were seen live on Twitch while eating. They probably didn’t expect to contribute to the clarification of a missing person’s case. Yet a missing teenager simply wandered into their stream.
What kind of stream was it? The Twitch streamers Clix and Lacy are actually known for Fortnite content. However, on July 2, 2024, they held an IRL stream (“in real life”), where they explored Miami together.
This type of stream is notorious for being hardly controllable and for unexpected things happening – as was the case in Clix and Lacy’s stream. The two were sitting outside at a café when they were approached by a teenager in green swim trunks.
Due to the boy’s conspicuous behavior, the chat quickly suspected that he had been consuming illegal substances. On Twitch, you can see a recording of the interaction.
The streamers themselves seemed somewhat bemused and amused by the incident, yet they did not think much of it – until Lacy received an email from the teenager’s brother.
The ways of the internet are often unfathomable – as illustrated by this viral Twitch clip:
Streamers help to find missing teenagers
What was up with the boy? The teenager was said to be the missing Troy Coleman, who had been missing since mid-May 2024. He was last seen on the morning of May 17 in his hometown of Flint, Michigan.
The brother of the missing person apparently recognized Troy in the stream and then reached out to Lacy, who made the story public on X. In a post from July 3, the streamer shared a picture of the boy along with an email he had received.
The writer states that he is Trent Coleman, the older brother of the missing person. He saw in Clix and Lacy’s stream how they were making fun of the boy. The brother clarifies: Troy is not under the influence of drugs but suffers from schizophrenia.
Trent also reports that his missing brother’s case has now been handed over to the homicide department – the family must have presumed that the boy is no longer alive and may have been the victim of a crime.
Lacy wrote that he wasn’t sure if he should make the story public, but he decided to do so in the hope of helping to find the boy.
How did the story end? In another post from July 4, Lacy reported that he had contacted the brother and informed him about which hotel Troy was staying at. The boy has now been found and will be brought back to his family in Michigan.
The streamer added: “The power of the internet is insane, thank you guys.” (via X)
The Flint Township Police Department confirmed on Facebook that the missing boy has been found and that they are working to safely bring him home. How the teenager ended up in Miami, which is about 2,300 kilometers away, is unknown.
In this case, it was a great stroke of luck that Lacy and Clix had the stream running while eating. However, not all people are thrilled about suddenly appearing in a stream – and some react anything but positively to suddenly having a camera in their face: German Twitch streamer wants to show Paris, films the wrong man, and suddenly has to run away
