Players of Pokémon GO love to showcase their special catches to the rest of the community. This was also the case for a trainer who had been searching for a specific Pokémon for years – but his choice of Pokéball has sparked discussion.
Which Pokémon did the trainer catch? Trainer No-Weight3538 presented a catch on Reddit that is of great significance to the player. For four years, he searched for a Shiny Paragoni and finally found it – and for this reason, he unapologetically dedicated the game’s strongest Pokéball to the little tree: the Master Ball.
Within a few days, the trainer received over 6,000 upvotes (as of November 29, 2025, 1:30 PM) in the subreddit where many catches are shared, as well as hundreds of comments in response to this decision. The Master Ball is not only super strong and catches any Pokémon without letting it escape – it is also very rare.
And that exactly is a topic of conversation in a community that has very passionate feelings about the use and potential waste of such a powerful Pokéball.
The community is ready to make an exception
What does the community say about the player’s catch? The often-represented opinion that the Master Ball should be used specifically for rare legendary Pokémon is also noted in this Reddit thread:
“I’m fascinated by what people use their Master Balls for,” writes onedge_rt, and funkytallguy also has a strong opinion on the use of this ball: “The Galar birds are the only ones worth using it on. Maybe also for a perfect raid monster, but personally, I’ve used them all for the birds.”
However, the majority of players feel that Shiny Paragoni is just too cool not to dedicate a Master Ball to it, no matter how “wasteful” that may seem:

Was his catch worth using in battles? As a fighter, the trainer’s beloved Shiny Paragoni is unfortunately not very strong. However, its evolution Trombork could perform well in Raids and the GO Battle League.
The trainer, however, seems quite indifferent to the potential of his favorite. He states that he doesn’t plan to evolve his Paragoni: “I will keep it as a baby and accompany its restless soul around the world.”
The Master Ball often sparks conversation in the Pokémon GO community, especially when it’s used for purposes that supposedly aren’t suitable.
