A player demonstrates with a clip from ARC Raiders that a crawling Raider can still get revenge. To do this, he enlisted the help of a dangerous “guard dog,” against which his killer stood no chance.
How was the player able to get revenge on the opponent? In a clip on Reddit, which has already received 11,000 upvotes from the community, player Either-Concern8349 shows what happened to him in ARC Raiders. After he was taken out by an enemy player and could only crawl, he stumbled upon a perfect opportunity to pay back his killer.
Slowly, he lured a Shredder, one of the dangerous ARCs, toward the enclosed room where the other Raider was located. Once he arrived there and opened the door, the opponent had absolutely no chance. He tried to escape, but the machine blocked the exit, and before he could act in any way, the Shredder ripped the opponent apart in the air.
In the clip, you can hear the player celebrating his successful revenge and laughing: “Oh, I wouldn’t want to be in your shoes!”
The helpful Shredder not only assisted the player in the clip, as other players also share in the Reddit thread.
The ARC proves itself not only as a killer but often as a savior
What does the community report about their experiences with the Shredder? The community celebrates the clip of the player, some of whom find the misfortune of the other player amusing, but definitely entertaining.
Yet a few more players add on Reddit, that they themselves have had similar experiences with helpful ARCs as saviors in need:
“The Shredder is a true buddy, he helps me so often to take revenge,” writes ThatEdward, and WarrenPuff_It has experienced that as well: “I can’t even tell you how often I’ve been taken out on this map and then immediately avenged by the Shredder. It’s wildly funny when teams take each other out.”
But Shredders, whether avengers or not, are still hostile AIs whose job is to wipe out Raiders. ghost60606 also reminds us of this: “Last week (when I was still quite green behind the ears), I accidentally led [a Shredder] into a room where I had just said Hello Raider. There was so much peace and love in that infirmary… When I came back, everyone else was dead!”
What does the Shredder actually do? Instead of being equipped with a shooting weapon like some other machines in ARC Raiders, the body of the Shredder is the actual weapon of the AI. Once it notices a Raider and becomes aggressive, it can suddenly move significantly faster and tries to get close enough to its target to then deal heavy area damage after a brief delay.
Luring an ARC in ARC Raiders is a quite dangerous but proven method to make one of the machines a weapon itself. However, the environment can also be used to gain an advantage—although many players absolutely do not like this: Camping in ARC Raiders is too boring for one player, turning the extraction point into their own fortress
