Shotguns are a constant topic of debate among players in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Now fans have discovered a pistol that may outclass shotguns with a single attachment.
What kind of pistol is it? It is the .357 revolver, which is a popular sidearm among many players. The pistol has a high damage output and can take down enemies at medium range with two to three shots.
What makes this weapon special in its category is the ammo attachment “Snake Shot,” which is unlocked in the Gunsmith at weapon level 29.
The attachment converts the high-caliber magnum ammunition into shotgun shells, which can now be loaded into the revolver. Consequently, the spread, range, and damage of the pistol change, turning it into a “secret” new shotgun.
The .357 as a Shotgun
These are the advantages: Since the .357 still qualifies as a pistol even with the attachment, you don’t need an Overkill perk to equip it. You have a shotgun without having to give up strong perks like Cold-Blooded or Ghost.
The penetrating power of the new weapon is enough to easily take out enemies up close with a single shot from the hip. In the hardcore modes of multiplayer, shots are even immediately lethal at distances of about 10-20 meters.
Additionally, the .357 has the advantage that you are much quicker to aim with sights than with any shotgun and can also switch to the pistol faster.
So, if you find yourself in a situation where you have to switch from the strongest weapon for longer distances to close combat, the .357 is stronger than any shotgun.
These are the disadvantages: On the other hand, the .357 is weaker in damage and range than most shotguns (especially the 725). It is only useful for close combat and occasionally for medium distances with luck shots. Its use therefore depends more on the situation.
Is the .357 the strongest shotgun?
Comparison .357 vs. 725: The 725 is currently considered the strongest shotgun and has even gotten stronger despite its nerfs. A brief comparison of the two weapons:
- Both weapons are absolutely deadly in close combat, but the 725 has a higher effective range.
- The .357 is slightly faster to draw and use, while the 725 can be modified into a sniper rifle.
- The 725 has only 2 shots; the .357 has 6 shots, making it more forgiving for mistakes.
Depending on the area of application, the .357 thus outperforms the 725 in many modes. On larger maps or in Ground War, the 725 outshines the pistol. In smaller modes and house-to-house combat, the .357 is likely the stronger of the two.
