Twitch streamer Marcel “MontanaBlack” Eris (35) made headlines with his appearance at gamescom 2022 last year. This year, at gamescom 2023, the streamer is back in action. Whether something has been learned from past mistakes, you will find out at MeinMMO.
What happened at the last gamescom? The gaming fair made headlines in 2022 mainly for one thing: influencers. The gamescom brawl involving content creators Tanzverbot, Scurrows, and OrangeMorange gave us the “Hall 8” meme, and the appearance of MontanaBlack led to a massive gathering.
Employees of gamescom then announced that they would analyze the incidents and take precautions for the next year. On August 24, MontanaBlack once again visited gamescom 2023. However, this time things went a bit differently.
When MontanaBlack posted his first video on YouTube in 2013, he probably had no idea that one day he would be performing in front of thousands of viewers:

How did this appearance differ from the previous year? In 2022, MontanaBlack planned to stroll around the fair without a big plan and host smaller challenges and giveaways. He apparently underestimated how much bigger the hype around him would be compared to his last gamescom in 2018.
At gamescom 2023, the appearance was much more structured. Instead of mingling with the crowd, MontanaBlack performed on the stage of the Social Area in Hall 1. Together with his fans, the Twitch streamer opened a can of his energy drink Gönrgy. You can get an impression through the following clip:
Together with buddy Marc Gebauer, MontanaBlack led the program and distributed prizes worth over 10,000 euros. However, he did not want to get too close to his fans. He had already announced on Instagram beforehand that it would be a pure entertainment show.
From “watching and enjoying,” one could get more than from a “two-second photo,” said the Twitch streamer. Although the hall was well filled for MontanaBlack’s appearance, a chaotic rush like the previous year was absent. Security and a barrier separated the audience from the stage, overall everything was a bit more planned and distant.

It seems that lessons have been learned from last year’s performance. Even in his IRL streams, which MontanaBlack had probably enjoyed during gamescom, the Twitch streamer has become more cautious.
It remains to be seen whether gamescom 2023 will continue to run so calmly.
