In Fortnite: Battle Royale, the shadow stones are back with the latest patch. The items that make you invisible were previously plagued by bugs. They seem to be working again now.
What are shadow stones? Shadow stones were actually one of the major new highlights in Season 6 of Fortnite: Battle Royale. The purple chunks were scattered in the devastated areas around the glowing runes. When collected, they made you invisible for 45 seconds.
You moved around as a shadow and could quickly pass through walls and other obstacles. However, while in shadow form, you were unable to attack.
What went wrong? Unfortunately, the stones were soon removed from the game again. Just a few hours after the season started, it became known that the stones were bugged. Under certain circumstances, you remained permanently invisible after the timer expired.
That was already bad enough, but in this new state, you could also shoot and kill opponents. This was clearly not desired, and Epic banned the stones.
They briefly returned over the weekend, but were quickly removed again. Now it’s attempt number three.
New patch brings shadow stones back
Shadow stones are back in the game: With the recently released patch 6.01, the stones are back. You will find them as usual in the devastated areas on the map. These are the now barren and lifeless regions where the purple cube left its runes in Season 5.
When you collect the stones, you will become invisible as usual and can only be faintly seen by opponents. In our initial test, the stones seemed to work correctly. Let’s just hope that the items don’t trigger another annoying bug.
Because if the leaks are accurate, the shadow stones are an important part of the new challenges for week 2 of season 6.
