The events of Overwatch regularly provide players with new skins and other cosmetics for their favorite heroes. Next up is the “Uprising” event, which is set to start on April 10!
In Overwatch, events consistently offer variety to the familiar game modes on special occasions. Almost exactly a year after the first release, the “Uprising” event returns. According to a tweet from the official page, the event starts on April 10.
The events usually tell a small story that also provides insights into the background of Overwatch. “Uprising” took place last year in King’s Row and depicted the Omnics’ uprisings from the “Null Sector”.

What does the “Uprising” event offer?
Last year, in line with the story, there were skins themed around Overwatch from ‘7 years ago’. The heroes wore the uniforms of the organization and were not yet the hardened champions they are today. This year, the event offers:
- Over 100 event items in loot boxes
- The story of the Overwatch strike team that suppressed the “Null Sector” uprising
- The Overwatch brawl “Uprising”
The event game mode takes place in King’s Row, where four players must stop Omnics that attack in waves. Following the comic’s template, Tracer, Mercy, Torbjörn, and Reinhardt were available to choose from last time.
The event could be completed at various difficulties and also featured the “All Heroes” mode last year, where all other characters besides the 4 protagonists were playable.
What changes this year?
Besides the return of the actual event, this time it seems to be primarily about Blackwatch, the covert operatives of Overwatch. Astute reddit users have examined the flicker in the short video from the tweet more closely and found hints about Blackwatch.
The new event will likely take place in Dorado and will focus, among other things, on McCree and Genji. Hints have been found in graffiti commissioned by Blizzard. You can read more about it in the relevant reddit post.
At the moment, it is still not clear what new content will be added. In past events, all old skins could be obtained and purchased again. With “Uprising”, this will likely also be the case.
