Apple users who love to play Fortnite need to be strong now. Fortnite: Save the World will no longer be playable on Mac PCs in the future.
What is the original Fortnite? This includes the mode “Save the World”. This was the only playable mode at the release of Fortnite in July 2017. The Battle Royale, which is mainly so popular, was released in September 2017.
In Save the World, you must survive against NPCs and fend off increasingly difficult waves. While Battle Royale can only be played online, Save the World can also be played without other players.
Dispute with Apple Forces Save the World to its Knees
Why is the mode dying? This is due to the dispute between Apple and Epic Games that broke out a few weeks ago because Epic allowed mobile players on Apple devices to purchase their V-Bucks externally. Apple did not make money from this and took action against it.
After many accusations, the current status is as follows:
- Fortnite can no longer be played on iOS devices
- Apple prohibits Epic from continuing to develop existing games – New patches or fixes are not to be played on the versions that Apple Mac users utilize
This also affects the “Save the World” mode of Fortnite. However, this mode is now receiving an update, and Mac users with older versions cannot download this update.
Epic has therefore announced that users with older versions will no longer be able to play the new version of Save the World. They are forcing the mode to die out on Mac devices.
When will it be like this? From September 23, Save the World should no longer be playable on Mac. If you are playing in this mode on an Apple device, you should make the most of the last days.
Could there still be a rescue? This is not in sight so far. Recently, the accusations continued. Epic filed a lawsuit against Apple’s actions. Apple, on the other hand, claimed that it was just a poor PR stunt for the struggling Fortnite.
So far, the positions have hardened. A rescue could only happen if Epic is allowed to work on the Mac version of Save the World again.
What will be refunded: If you are new to Save the World, you will get your money back for a Founder or Starter Pack. You must have purchased it between September 7 and September 17. The same applies to V-Bucks you have purchased. However, the refund will only be given if you own the version on Mac.
You will automatically get the money back, and it should be in your account by October 2.
