Fans of Baldur’s Gate 3 were recently disappointed by the quality of the official minis for Baldur’s Gate 3. Apparently so much that the company behind it has now officially apologized.
What was wrong with the figures? The box set “Icons of the Realm” with 7 official figures for Baldur’s Gate 3 from the US company WizKids recently caused discontent in the community. On X.com, some fans shared their disappointment about the quality of the minis.
Because these arrived in the community somewhat severely deformed, with messy colors and sometimes missing body parts, looking significantly different from their template, which WizKids marketed for the set, leading to the assumption of a production error.
Some also took it with humor and joked that mods should be developed to make the characters look like that. In the meantime, the photos of the deformed figures had even developed into a meme (via Reddit).
Now the company behind the figures has responded to the criticism and promises affected customers a refund.
“We are refunding the full purchase price, a return of the product is not necessary.”
How does WizKids respond to the incident? In an entry on their homepage, the company has now spoken out about the quality and asks all affected to contact them:
WizKids is committed to developing products that enhance and increase the fun of gaming. We want our customers to create long and beautiful memories of game nights with friends and family with our products.
Unfortunately, we did not achieve this goal with the D&D Icons of the Realms: Baldur’s Gate 3 Character Boxed Set. If you purchased this set from our online stores, we offer a full refund to those who are dissatisfied with their set.

We sincerely apologize for the frustration and disappointment that these quality issues have caused our customers. We feel the same way, as the final product did not meet our expectations or those of our partners at Wizards of the Coast.
Our teams are working to find the best solutions for all parties involved and to work with you, our customers, to resolve this issue. We thank you for your patience as we focus on contacting those affected and assisting them with their refunds.
Accordingly, all who received defective products will receive a full refund of the purchase price or a new product, ensuring that “the expected standards are met.”
They also state in a post on x.com that a return is not required. Thus, fans can keep the defective products. Meanwhile, the product page for the set is no longer accessible (via shop.wizkids.com). Whether the set will be offered again in the future is currently unknown.
Alongside the classic companions Wyll, Karlach, Astarion, Lae’zael, Gale, and Shadowheart, Lazarus (engl. Withers) was also included. There are also several candidates who will adorn your lager over a longer period in the game, such as Jaheira or Minsc. But Volo would also have been a suitable figure in this set, as he plays not only a larger role in Baldur’s Gate 3: Volo acts in Baldur’s Gate 3 like a braggart, but in D&D he is a truly important character.
